Southern Vermont School Garden Partnership Blog

Here two students are looking through seed catalogs.

Teachers are learning to create a blog with students.  We can't wait to start this project with our classes!

Here in Westminster, the snow has melted from our garden site.  We can see the beginnings of our raspberry plants and garlic poking through the earth.

In the classroom, the basil and marigold seedlings are being transplanted into recycled milk cartons.  After April vacation, they will move into our school greenhouse.  Right now they are under the gro-lights in the Olders' classroom.
Thank you to Paul Harlow for donating potting soil and for coming in to demonstrate sowing seeds.  Students compiled a list of their favorite seeds from seed catalogs, and we are waiting for our snack garden seed order to arrive in the mail.  A few of the vegetables we are planning to grow include watermelon, lettuce, basil, pumpkins, tatsoi, tomatoes, and peppers.
